Eugene Kagansky is a Brooklyn-based artist who studied at the
Parsons School of Design, The New York Academy of Art, and
The School of Visual Arts.
Coming to New York from Saint Petersburg in the 1980’s,
Kagansky rooted himself in the city’s visual culture, from
Edward Hopper and the New York School painters
to commercial artists like J.C.Leyendecker. He began working as
an illustrator for major publishing houses, ad agencies, and
Magazines like the New York, before discovering a passion for
scenic art. His films and TV work includes The Sopranos,
Burn After Reading, Sesame Street, The Ice Storm, and
The Bourne Ultimatum, as well as Broadway productions and
campaigns for Givenchy, Hugo Boss, Shiseido. His paintings were
showcased on The Succession and The Sinner.
After decades of helping to build these fictional landscapes,
Kagansky has rededicated himself to painting, in open dialogue
with an ever-evolving city and the world.
